Are you rooted?Colossians 2:6-7 says, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith.” Rooted is our theme for the fall. As our culture collapses, only churches and families built on a solid foundation are going to thrive.
Rooted in COMMUNITYSmall Groups
This fall every small group in our church will be studying the book “Rooted”. If you are not in a small group we want you to sign up for a temporary group that will meet in the sanctuary Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, September 6 – October 18. “Rooted” books can be purchased in the bookstore for $7 each. Email Brandon Lauranzon if you would like to join a Rooted Small Group.
Rooted in TRUTHRomans Sermon Series
Throughout Rooted we will be preaching on Paul’s Letter to the Romans. John Calvin once said, “If we have gained a true understanding of this Epistle, we have an open door to all the most profound treasures of Scripture.” To supplement the preaching you might purchase from your favorite online retailer a copy of "Comforts from Romans," a devotional by Elyse Fitzpatrick.
Rooted in HISTORYReformation 500
2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. In 1517 Martin Luther nailed his list of 95 complaints to the door of the Wittenberg church in Germany and sparked what many scholars believe was one of the most important movements in all of history. October 23-29 will be Reformation Week at Seven Rivers. There will be special events throughout the week concluding with a grand celebration in church that weekend.
Rooted in MISSIONPoverty Simulator
Have you experienced poverty during your life? Maybe not, but many in our community have and they struggle with tough choices and finding ways to stretch limited means every day. To help us understand and experience what life is like in poverty, The University of Florida Extension Office will be hosting a Poverty Simulator in the narthex on our sanctuary on Wednesday, November 8. More details TBA as the date gets closer.
