Here's what you can expect...
When you arrive at Seven Rivers for our service, you are invited to park in the front in the visitors parking spaces and use the main entrance. There are signs to help you find your way.
Handicapped parking is available near our covered drop-off. When you enter either the west (nearest the drop off) or east doors to the sanctuary, there are shortened pews designed for a wheel chair. This area gives easy access to the sanctuary and is closest to the exit doors.
At the front door, there are friendly people (we call them “greeters”) to say hello, answer any questions you have, and direct you to the sanctuary. There will also be other volunteers throughout the building who can assist you in any way--just look for the bright yellow nametags. If you need childcare (ages 0 - 4) they can show you to the nursery. Halfway through the service, we dismiss the children in grades K - 2 to children's church in Room 406 (you may accompany them to see where to pick them up). Be sure to register your child in the children's area before the service begins. If your children are shy, they’re welcome to stay with you, but most kids really enjoy children's church, which is available during all services.
You’ll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in anything from traditional church clothes to office casual to jeans and sneakers. If you arrive early, you’re welcome to browse in the bookstore (near the entrance) and pick up information about Seven Rivers in the lobby area.
When you come in the sanctuary, you’ll be given a bulletin which has the agenda for the day’s service and an outline for the sermon.
The service usually begins with some upbeat music, followed by a welcome and introduction to the theme of the day. There is a time of community where we shake hands with those around us. Sometimes, there will be a multimedia presentation to further explore the day's theme. More singing will follow led by the worship team. We have a heart for God's children of all ages, so our worship reflects a variety of styles and tastes; from contemporary with a praise band to hymns accompanied by an organ.
We include collecting tithes and offerings as part of our worship and thanksgiving to God. We want you to feel welcome as our guest, and let the plate pass. After the offering, a book is passed down the rows for you to enter any contact information you would like us to have. We will not flood your mailbox or inbox with unnecessary correspondence. We just want to be able to keep you updated on events happening in the church.
The message will be based on the Bible, and often includes interesting quotes from contemporary people, songs, or movies. You'll hear solid Christian theology in intelligent, understandable, relevant terms. A prayer and song will follow the message.
After the service, you'll pick up your kids from their classrooms, and then we hope you’ll stay, meet some people and enjoy some refreshments in the Florida Room or at our Coffee Bar. Church is about God and worship, but it is also about community and friendship, so we hope you will genuinely experience warmth and friendliness at Seven Rivers.
Before you leave, make sure you stop by the Guest Services Desk in the lobby and pick up a free gift we have for you as a thank you for coming. We hope you’ll join us this weekend.
