Mission
Statement: In bold response to the transforming grace of the gospel, we desire
to foster a warm, friendly, hospitable environment that surprises skeptics,
eases the unchurched, and empowers members. "Welcome
one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God."
Romans 15:7
As a member of The Welcome Team you will be given
an assignment at the service of your choice for one month at
a time. It's a great way to be
involved and serve the Kingdom. Not to mention it's
loads of fun! The team will meet in the Florida Room 45
minutes before the beginning of every service for
encouragement, fellowship, and prayer.
As a part of this team,
the most important thing
you can do is SMILE and let people know we are delighted
they are here. Our goal is to make every person who comes
through our doors feel like a part of the family.
Ways to get involved:
The Bookstore is the place for you if you love books and
helping people that love books. Complete training will be
supplied. The bookstore is open 30 minutes before and after
each service.
You’ll
have a blast in the café serving people frozen drinks,
specialty coffees, and yummy treats. Complete training will
be supplied. Plan to stay about 45 minutes after the service
for serving and clean up.
Free coffee is available at various locations throughout the
building. Your job will be to get things set up prior to the
service, oversee things (mainly chat and watch people enjoy
each other) and then come back as the service closes to do
it again.
You are the place guests come for answers. The Guest
Services Desk at the main entrance also serves as the place
first-time guests come to pick up their first-time guest
gift. You are asked to remain at the desk 10 minutes after
the service begins, and 15 minutes after the service is
over.
The Next Step Desk is the place people come to find out
about taking the Next Step at Seven Rivers. This
might be joining a small group, volunteering for a ministry
team, signing up for a special event...the list goes on. We
will do our best to give you all the information necessary
to help people and answer their questions. You are asked to
remain at the desk 15 minutes after the service is over.
You may be the first contact a person has as they arrive at
Seven Rivers! The most important thing you can do is smile,
say hello, and exude warmth and friendliness. You are asked
to stay at your door 10 minutes after the service begins.
You will greet folks as they arrive and hand them a
bulletin. The most important thing you can do is smile, say
hello, and exude warmth and friendliness. You are asked to
remain at your door 10 minutes after the service begins.
(Once the service begins, the main entrance doors will be
closed—if you are greeting at the main entrance please ask
folks to enter at either the east or west entrance.)
Your job is to fill in the gaps throughout the building with
a friendly body. Find someone you don’t know or who looks
new and introduce yourself. Sometimes you will have shorter
talks with several people, while other instances you might
spend the whole time talking with just one person. The point
is not to meet a quota, but to help visitors feel welcomed
and genuinely cared for – to answer their questions and help
them feel at home.
